Born 1978 at Indore Vishal Joshi completed his Diploma in Fashion Designing from JD Institute of Fashion Technology in the city before joining his BFA in Govt. College of Fine Arts also in Indore.

Working in abstract mode, Vishal’s matted canvases acquire an illuminated brooding poise. There are no distinct elements to be variegated rather one piece of wholeness. The sensory organs focus on the totality of the experience instead of the individual segments within the image. His strokes are not just patches of colours filling the virgin canvas but foster an act of revealing and concealing the anatomy of the truth. Looking at the colours in their variable hues that are integral to the imaging, one wonders where the colour mixing happens – on the palette, or the canvas. The twisted loops and coils look like on to an ontological quest that attempts to decipher meaning in this absurdity of forms. The geometric patterns, running foliage and wire mesh forms seem to engulf his canvases that make engaging works of art.

Vishal Joshi is recipient of Jury Award and first prize in All India College Painting Competition both at Manav Sanket Academy, Ujjain. He has exhibited extensively in his native city Indore and in other towns including participation in Raza Award Exhibition at Bhopal, Art for Freedom Auction in London, and group shows at Mumbai and New Delhi. Vishal lives and works in Indore.
